Putting BC to Work
In partnership with CKNW, the Business Council of British Columbia is hosting a forum on April 24th, 2014 titled Putting BC To Work. This event will focus on what we need to do in British Columbia’s diverse labour market to develop, attract and retain talent to grow the economy. We will explore the appropriate roles for business, government and post-secondary educators and how we will collaborate to meet the labour market demands of this and the next generation. This forum will be a wrap up discussion following CKNW's month long on-air Putting BC to Work program campaign which begins March 31st.
The forum will seek to address questions such as:
- What drives job growth in British Columbia?
- What are the real risks to our leading sectors and overall economic growth in the area of human capital?
- How are employers and educators preparing for project development and the future labour market in a skills and knowledge based economy?
- How can our education system better prepare students for higher learning and employment?
- How can the post-secondary system collaborate with the private sector to develop a workforce ready for the jobs and economic opportunities ahead for BC?
